The word “love” can be described as one of the human’s most powerful emotions. It is a feeling of intense affection towards another. It can be an adjective in calling something “lovely” or it could be a verb by “loving” someone. This can also be a feeling of sexual desire or simply an emotion one can have for another that makes them feel good. Love is caring about someone that cares about you too. If someone really “loves” you, you feel a sense of warmth and security. While “love” is not necessarily simple, it can be expressed in simple ways such as giving flowers, a hug, or even a smile. It can be defined as something as little as a facial expression or as deep as someone’s heart. In the end, “love” is one of the human’s most powerful emotions.

when people join a community/debate room/forum or whatever, isn't it true that you make some sort of commitment to that?

i mean it's not like OMG CHECK IT EVERY SINGLE DAY

but every once in awhile.

dont' just join one and forget about it. people who are actually interested in that community would appreciate it.

“Is Impossible An Understatement?”

“Best invention since sliced bread.” According to this popular saying, sliced bread is one of the greater inventions. However, looking back at all of the technological advances made in the past centuries, many things place higher on the list than bread. In fact, some are such marvels, that one must wonder: Is anything really possible?

One of these marvels is electricity. There is a lot known about this subject, but most still remains a mystery. One can harness this energy that no one can touch, no one can see, no one can physically describe, and it becomes this powerful force. This mysterious force is used for almost everything, and we, as humans, depend on this thing that could be considered inconceivable.

Energy and electricity are not the only wonders. They are conducive to many miraculous inventions. They have fostered televisions, computers, refrigerators, stoves, cameras, lights, the list goes on. We have been blessed to have these inventions and can not imagine living without them. It is possible to live without them though. In the centuries preceding this modern era, food was kept in ice boxes and heated over fire. Live entertainment was the only entertainment (yes, as hard as it is to believe, children had to leave the house to have fun!) and information was passed through voice or paper. Back in these seemingly prehistoric days, one could not imagine the machines we have today. Quite frankly, they would almost be frightened.

A lot of people nowadays are frightened as well. This fright must be mitigated. We are becoming blind to our capabilities and believe that we have advanced as much as possible. To some, there is no way possible to cure illnesses, live forever, be among the stars and find alien life. What those people must realize, is that we are thinking in the same mind frame as our predecessors. We have to learn from history and be able to admit that there is more that can be discovered, more that can be done.

We need to rectify this closed mindedness, for it will slow our advancement of civilization. If we expect nothing, then that is exactly what we will get. This generation needs to open its mind and dare to be the ones that turn dream into reality. We need to stop being under the aegis of what we already know and roam into the unknown. We have come this far, why not go further? If we think it to be so, I believe anything can be possible.

tolerance [07 Feb 2005|04:30pm]

fliz_izlit07
one word: tolerance

sure it's not simple, but if people tried to tolerate each other think of all the fights we can avoid.

I.E.: a group of people are acting immature, but they are just having fun. however, one person decides to tell them to shut up (instead of asking nicely) and one of the immature people flips them off. a fight breaks out.

let's look at this situation in a different view: people act immature all the time, no big deal, but it CAN get annoying. the person should have asked them nicely. even if the immature person still flipped them off, tolerance is learning to ignore that and just walk away.

who is the bigger person?

[ mood | emotional ]

alright...just for krysta...here's the emo theory...

before some certain people give me shit about it...no i do not like this mind of music...just read the whole fucking entry before you jump to conclusions

first of all emo= emotional...
emotional is defined as:
e·mo·tion
n.
A mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes; a feeling: the emotions of joy, sorrow, reverence, hate, and love.
A state of mental agitation or disturbance: spoke unsteadily in a voice that betrayed his emotion. See Synonyms at FEELING.
The part of the consciousness that involves feeling; sensibility: “The very essence of literature is the war between emotion and intellect” (Isaac Bashevis Singer).

definition of emo(from the urban dictionary):
1. Emo
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

2. Emo
Punk music on estrogen. Often acoustic guitar with soft, high male vocals that dwell exessively on the singer's feelings, especially melancholy remembrances of past relationships/mistakes in life.
16. emo
`a genre of music usually softer or slower. usually talks about feelings.
`a state of being . well, you can feel emo, cant you? pretty much the same as feeling emotional.

27. emo
Emotionally charged music.

42. emo
A style of rock music and a trend. The meaning of the word comes from an abbreviation of "emotional".

57. Emo
Root word of "emotional"; a genre of music spawned off of 80's Punk Rock; characterized today by certain fashion trends (i.e. black rimmed glasses, long hair, tight band t-shirts, tight jeans, and scarf); lyrics are heartfelt, melancholy, and often talk of heartache and suicide, and are usually backed by an acoustic guitar; Emo today consist of bands like Taking Back Sunday and Dashboard Confessional, as well as Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, etc.; often times this ‘stereotype’ comes with the idea that Emo Kids, as the listeners of this music are called, are pussies, overdramatic, and whiny (this may be true for some, but not all)

ok so thats just what some people have defined as "emo"...music that is emotional containing lyrics about being depressed sad upset angry any otheses words and the reasons these people feel this way.

one thing...depressed sad upset and angry are not the only fucking emotions out there...happy overjoyed pissed off cheerful cranky funky exhausted horny creative hyper...whatever there are sooooo many emotions out there.

another thing...people write lyrics for songs to express different emotions. any song in the world could be used to express a different emotion.

so what people are saying is that in music people who are being emotional are being "emo"

so i have one one question...wouldn't that make every single song ever written anywhere in this world anytime any place..."emo"?

and yeah i know, to try and describe music we have to classify it somehow but geez don't use the name "emo" meaning emotional when that is a term that can be used to describe any kind of music out there

and classifying people as being "emo" is stupid too...because when you're running around acting like a hyper active jackass you're still expressing some kind of emotion...being emotional...emo...so think of a new new term ok? because if you continue to classify peolpe as being emo and then walk around dissing it...you're just bringing yourself down...and i'm sorry, but thats just stupid

once again please read the whole thing before you post some sarcastic retarded comment because you feel the need to come up with a smart ass answer because you know its the truth

Beth and I are not the kind of mods that get obsessive and protective of our community. Those of you who know us know the point of this.

Complain, fight, bitch, insult, degrade and disagree all you want.

Just understand that it doesn't bug us. As a matter of fact, we just laugh about it in AIM. LJ fights amuse us.

If you are the kind of person who lives their lives, relationships, friendships and fights on LiveJournal, then get out now, you obsessive freak.

not aimed at anyone in particular, but since I am expecting some new members, maybe of a little bit lower intelligence, I thought you should know.

Rules of Love [18 Jan 2005|03:13pm]

nowherekid517
[ mood | loved ]

- love is overrated
- love is underrated
- no matter how serious a relationship may or bay not be, treat it like it will last forever
- there is such thing as friends with benifits
- you can love more than one person in your lifetime
- you can be in love with more than one person in your lifetime
- people DO change
- you can love someone and they can turn out to be complete jackasses, that is part of life
- feelings for someone can and do die
- no one is "meant to be"
- if you wanted to, you could like/love anyone
- when you think of love, you shouldnt think of the lack of it, you should think of what you have/ had and be thankful for it
- it is called "more than a friend" for a reason, meaning that a guy/girl CAN be treated superior to your friends. if you dont feel that they should be more important, then you dont really like them as more than a friend
- dont dislike someone because ur friend ditches you for them. you would do the same
- dont prejudge
- long distance relationships dont work
- internet relationships dont work either
- opposites dont necessicarily attract

?agree/disagree?

Ok this is really stupid.

My friend's boyfriend signed up for the Armed Forces, but a few days later, he decided that it's not what he wants. Well, in order to take back your application, there is a shit load of paperwork you must file and whatnot. Well, he turned in his papers, but they were not yet processed and he recieved a notice for duty in the mail. He leaves for boot camp tomorrow at 4:45 am.

voting [08 Jan 2005|10:04am]

fliz_izlit07
i know why teenagers cannot vote:

1. we are really the only age group that strongly express our view

2. we are the only age group that really CARES about wuts happening around us

3. everybody thinks we're too young to understand

4. people vote based only on their party

5. everybody except teenagers are blissfully unaware of the stupid things the presidents do

6. once people get old, they stop caring and trying to make a difference

7. we out-number all other age-groups by a lot and if we could vote, we would make a HUGE difference
